Ablade Glover (1934- ), one of the most well known Ghanaian artists, uses a palate knife in a
very painterly fashion in his abstracted Market Scene. The slashes of blue and purple accentuate
the busyness of an outdoor African Market while giving reference to stalls and rich fabrics.
Dense humanity populates the central portion of the canvas. Glover loves to portray the vitality
of markets and uses this theme often in many variations and color combinations.
